Today, we're going to be talking about my favorite social media: instagram! If you're not on instagram yet, don't worry! Creating an account is SUPER easy and I can guarantee you're going to love sharing (and editing) your photos in this fun app! What's even better is that you can then share your photos DIRECTLY to Facebook so all you friends continue to see your awesomeness! If you're not ready to take the plunge, no worries! Have a teenager in your life? I can guarantee they're on there and that they'll LOVE sharing photos of themselves on this app. #trustme
Instagram's newsfeed is WAY less cluttered than Facebook's and everyone (businesses included) is only allowed ONE hyperlink per account. Translation: there aren't a ton of links saying "click here now!" As a small business owner, I'm using my one hyperlink to connect to my newsletter and cool blog posts. I do however, have a personal account that I use only for my family photos. On the account I'm not even using the hyperlink... and I'm guessing you aren't either!
Until now.
Today, I'm going to show you how to connect your app to your Instagram account (and your teenager's account)! It is SUPER simple and I'll walk you through the process step by step. All said and done, this will take you LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES from start to finish (and that's including watching my tutorial)! Remember: the family who shares their app the most by 12/31/15 wins a FREE CANVAS from their 2016 session!
So, grab your phone and let's do this!
- Ok, so the first thing we need to do is be sure your custom Immerse Photography app is on your phone! If you don't already have it on there, LET ME KNOW right now by emailing me at [email protected].
- Open your app, click on the SHARE button, then click on the email envelope (be sure you click share first, and not just email - that link enables you email me directly, and doesn't copy your personalized link). Your email will pop open and you'll see the link to your app. Copy that link (on an iPhone, click and hold on the link, select, and then copy). Congrats, that was the hardest part!
- Let's head over to instagram now! Either create a new account OR log in to your current account. If you don't currently have an account, you'll probably need to head over to the app store and download Instagram - don't worry, it's free!
- Next, we're going to edit your bio! Click on the person in the lower right corner, "edit your profile," then paste your app link.

- Last step! Tell your friends about your new app! Take a selfie or screenshot your fav photo from the app and tell your friends to "go check out the link in my bio to see my photoshoot with @immersephotography!" Literally, you can copy and paste that! When you tag me, I get to see it too! And that makes me happy!
Done AND done! Just be sure you don't skip that last step! If you don't tell your friends to go check out your app, they'll never know it's there and you won't get more shares!!! See?! WAY easier than you thought, huh?! Remember, whoever shares their app the most get's a free canvas and you only have a few more months to make it happen! So get to sharing!
